Island Time, July 8-11: A Walk in the Park

The first full week of July is packed with things to do—or you could just sit back and relax. Either way, here are five activities to consider over the next few days and we’ll be back Thursday with the weekend’s events.

First held in 1971 to commemorate the town’s 300th anniversary, the annual festival draws thousands of visitors who shop, snack and stroll their way along Main street, which is lined with vendors’ tables and restaurants serving portable food and drink.
2. Free live jazz on the lawn kicks off this year’s Sounds Like Summer concert series, Tuesday, July 9, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Edgartown Public Library.
3. Island glass artist and metal sculptor Barney Zeitz opens his home studio,Wednesday, July 10 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 67 Deer Hill road, Vineyard Haven.
5. Pianist David Crohan celebrates his 75th birthday with a concert at the Trinity Park Tabernacle in Oak Bluffs, Thursday, July 11 at 8 p.m.
