May on MV
May is the month when the promise of spring is finally fulfilled. By now, not only is nature on the fast lane to summer but the Island community kick-starts the season with restaurant re-openings just in time for Mother’s Day brunches. Island-wide, outdoor grills are fired up in anticipation of Vineyard Haven’s annual town picnic and the Memorial Day weekend. Gardeners keep eyes to the sky, anxious to plant their assortment of vegetable seedlings, hoping for a generous growing season. As college semesters end, an influx of young energy rushes over the Island shoreline like a rogue wave. Can summer be far behind?
