New Signage May Be on Tap for Chappy

Martha’s Vineyard – Chappy ferry co-owner Peter Wells alerted Edgartown selectmen this week that a new movie about the 1969 Chappaquiddick car accident that killed Mary Jo Kopechne has caused an uptick in tourist traffic to the Edgartown island. In response, he proposed new signage to steer traffic in the proper direction. Currently those seeking directions to Chappaquiddick or the Chappy ferry via Google, are erroneously directed to the foot of Main Street and on to Dock Street, where they encounter one-way traffic coming off the ferry.
