May heads for home as June beckons from around the corner, which begs the question: How to celebrate the transition?

Sunday May 31 heralds a Blue Moon, so singing to the evening skies could be on the list. And maybe make it a regular tradition, as long as the neighbors don’t complain.

If seeking more musical inspiration, look no further than Mark and Molly who are back with a new CD. Mark is Mark Lovewell; Molly is Molly Conole. The duo sing and perform traditional folk music and their own compositions.

Their new CD is called Home, Land and Sea, and there will be a release party on Tuesday, June 2 at the Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse from 6 to 8 p.m. Everyone is invited to the free event. Expect music, expect creativity, expect joy.

Follow the singing with poetry. On Wednesday, June 3, renowned poet Naomi Shihab Nye returns to Featherstone for a reading. The fundraiser is a co-production of Featherstone Center for the Arts and PathwaysArts.

Ms. Nye is an award-winning poet, essayist and educator who in her art draws on her Palestinian-American heritage. She is the author of more than 30 volumes of poetry and has received the Wallace Stevens Poetry Award and the Ivan Sandrof Award for Lifetime Achievement, among others. She has also been a Guggenheim Fellow and a Lannan Fellow.

The event begins at 6 p.m.; tickets cost $30. For purchase, visit featherstoneart.org.

After a week of singing and poetry, and a movement of months that will see spring turn to summer, the next thing to do is head for the beach, strip down to the essentials, run to the water’s edge and leap into the waiting waves of the ocean, which has been waiting for your return all winter long.
