What more does one need to say about the Week Ahead beyond that it brings us the 4th of July Weekend and delivers us into the heat of the summer season. The events below truly only scratch the surface of each day’s offerings.  Among the other events making their annual one-time appearance on the calendar are the MV Museum’s 19th Annual Evening of Discovery and the exciting Stars + Stripes Festival (this year featuring Carly Simon and Friends) both of which take place on July 1. On July 4, Murdick’s Run the Chop Challenge kicks off the holiday itself.  Be sure to check our Calendar of Events when planning your weekend and enjoy the Week Ahead!

Friday, June 30
Seashore Discovery
Start off the holiday weekend with a meet-up with amazing creatures of the sea! Short walk through the forest brings us to a protected beach where we explore shallow waters with dip net.

Saturday, July 1
Livingston Taylor – One Night Only
Livingston’s annual summer concert is a Vineyard tradition during which he’ll perform hits and songs from his vast catalog reflecting 50 years of writing and performing.

Sunday, July 2
20th Annual Summer Artisans Festivals
A Vineyard Summer tradition and the only weekly juried art show where the public can meet over 70 artisans and buy directly from them.

Monday, July 3
Home Game – MV Sharks vs Rox
Come on out this summer and watch the MV Sharks play ball! Season tickets available.

Tuesday, July 4
Edgartown’s Annual Fourth of July Parade, BBQ & Fireworks
Celebrate the Fourth of July with Edgartown’s traditional parade & fireworks. Enjoy the traditional late afternoon parade then head over to lawn of the Dr. Daniel Fisher house on Main Street for a family-style BBQ followed by fireworks at 9 pm.

Wednesday, July 5
Community Sing at the Tabernacle
Before karaoke there was the weekly MVCMA’s Community Sing! Still a favorite activity for almost 150 years, and FUN for the entire family!

Thursday, July 6
Martha’s Vineyard Concert Series Presents: Loudon Wainwright
With a musical career that spans decades, folk singer/songwriter Loudon Wainwright  entertains at the intimate Old Whaling Church in Edgartown  singing humorous and nakedly honest autobiographical songs that have made him a cult figure since the ‘60s.
