Fresh Air: Island Time, December 30

Fresh Air: Island Time, December 30

December 30, 2021

If you’re looking for some fresh air on New Year’s Day (and who isn’t?), take a meander through Polly Hill Arboretum or Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary — both open sunrise to sunset. Take the kids to Island Alpaca’s open house, take yourself to the movies or the opera or go for a drive around Chappy. Or check The Complete Martha’s Vineyard Calendar for ideas for the whole family, any day of the week. Happy New Year!

Dance goodbye to 2021 at the Ritz on Friday night. The Great Gatsby New Year’s Eve Bash will feature Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish at 8:30 p.m. followed by DJ Supa Ricky Prime at 10:30.
On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Island Alpaca will hold its annual New Year’s Day Open House. Come meet 40 fluffy, friendly adult alpacas and take a peek at the farm’s newest additions: two baby alpacas. Tasty treats (for humans) and hot cider will be on hand.
Up-Island Schools Executive Chef Jenny Devivo will teach a series of cooking classes for teens at the FARM Institute starting this Wednesday, January 5. The four-part Teens Can Cook After-School Program focuses on building skills, discovering new foods, and sharing dinner that was made together.
