Down Time: Island Time, November 4
November 4, 2021
After an exciting week on the Vineyard – two storms, one frost, and a million leaves changing color practically overnight – we’re ready for some down time, preferably with sunny skies. We’re going to take advantage of guided hikes and other outdoor adventures and save our evenings for a round of great movies that are in town. In between, we’ll find more to do on The Complete Martha’s Vineyard Calendar — if we’re up for it. Or maybe we’ll check What’s Open on Martha’s Vineyard to find out where to get some takeout before the movies. More ideas? Read on.
The Martha’s Vineyard Film Center in Vineyard Haven will have a one-time showing of the documentary
Fauci tonight, Thursday, November 4 at 7:30 p.m. Following the film, director John Hoffman will Skype in for a discussion with Edgartown Health Agent Matt Poole and West Tisbury Health Agent Omar Johnson. Proof of vaccination required to attend.
The annual
Run for Veterans will take place on Saturday, November 6 at 9 a.m. beginning at South Beach’s Right Fork parking lot in Edgartown. All proceeds will go to help support veterans on Martha’s Vineyard.
The Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School’s Drama Club will present a reading of
Game of Tiaras – a one-act play by Don Zolidis – on Saturday, November 6 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Tisbury Amphitheater in Vineyard Haven. Think Game of Thrones mixed with a bit of Shakespearean tragedy.
The Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank Commission’s off-season guided walk series kicks off on Sunday, November 7 at 1 p.m. with a
Guided Natural History Walkof Featherstone Farm and Weahtaqua Springs Preserve in Oak Bluffs. Participants should meet at the trailhead for the Southern Woodlands Reservation off Barnes Road and are asked to carpool if possible, as parking is limited.
Monday nights just got a little more fun with the return of the Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse’s
Monday Night at the Movies. On Monday, November 8 at 6 p.m., catch a Hitchcock classic,
The Lady Vanishes, starring Margaret Lockwood and Michael Redgrave.
