Island Time, November 19-25: Open for Business

November 19, 2020

As Thanksgiving approaches, holiday shopping and special events are beginning to pop up around the Island, with safety protocols in place. Watch for extended hours and the return of some businesses that are usually closed for the season. Many local shops offer curbside pickup or reserved shopping times, so call ahead or visit their websites for more information. You’ll also want to check out What’s Open, What’s Closed on Martha’s Vineyard for restaurant and other business updates. And remember the Complete Martha’s Vineyard Calendar offers up-to-date daily event listings.

The holiday gift show at The Workshop Gallery in Vineyard Haven features work by Martha’s Vineyard artists Elysha Joy Metals, Wil Sideman (glass), designer Trisha Ginter of Frock, Kay Frank of Plant Post and photographer Ray Ewing, Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Before Fleabag, the hit TV series, there was Fleabag, the hilarious, award-winning one-woman play by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. See her perform it live on-screen at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center in Vineyard Haven, Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
In Menemsha, painter Colin Ruel and jewelry maker Nettie Kent open their Ruel Gallery Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are adding smaller, giftable works for holiday shopping.
West Tisbury poet laureate Spencer Thurlow hosts a community poetry reading on Zoom Sunday at 4:30 p.m. Sign up to read, or to just listen.
