As Thanksgiving approaches, holiday shopping and special events are beginning to pop up around the Island, with safety protocols in place. Watch for extended hours and the return of some businesses that are usually closed for the season. Many local shops offer curbside pickup or reserved shopping times, so call ahead or visit their websites for more information. The holiday gift show at The Workshop Gallery
in Vineyard Haven features work by Martha’s Vineyard artists Elysha Joy Metals, Wil Sideman (glass), designer Trisha Ginter of Frock, Kay Frank of Plant Post and photographer Ray Ewing, Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In Menemsha, painter Colin Ruel and jewelry maker Nettie Kent open their Ruel Gallery
Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are adding smaller, giftable works for holiday shopping.
West Tisbury poet laureate Spencer Thurlow hosts a community poetry reading

Sweet news: Murdick’s Fudge
in Edgartown is reopening its doors for a holiday pop-up, Monday through Nov. 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
