Happy Thanksgiving! We hope you have a wonderful day, a delicious meal, and time to get outside for a walk on our beautiful Island. For the rest of the long weekend, you’ll have no trouble finding something fun to do, from farm festivals and shopping fairs to live music and great films. We’ve picked a few highlights, but you can also find a complete listing of events for all ages in the Complete Martha’s Vineyard Calendar.
Friday, Nov. 29 | Down on the farm
The FARM Institute in Edgartown welcomes one and all to its Holiday Open House today and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., complete with farm animals, cookie decorating, warm drinks and a tree to decorate.
The Vineyard Artisans Thanksgiving Weekend Festival takes place today and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Agricultural Hall in West Tisbury.
The Holiday Oak Bluffs Open Market takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ocean View restaurant in Oak Bluffs, where Santa will visit for photos with people and pets (the latter outside only) starting at noon.
At Misty Meadows Equine Learning Center’s open house in West Tisbury, carriage rides and pony rides are among the fun things to do from 10 a.m. to noon.
Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary in Edgartown holds its 39th annual Fall Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with live raptor and owl shows at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.
At the movies, the Capawock in Vineyard Haven is showing The Report at 7:30 p.m.
The Edbury All-Stars play the Ritz in Oak Bluffs starting at 7 p.m., followed at 10 p.m. by DJ A.P.
Saturday, Nov. 30 | All’s fair
The West Tisbury Farmers’ Market switches locations today, setting up at the Grange Hall to accommodate the artisans festival at the Agricultural Hall. The farmers’ market runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with live music and food samples.
The Portuguese-American Club in Oak Bluffs hosts a Holiday Craft Fair today and tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with soup and sandwiches available from the kitchen.
You can help Stuff an Ambulance with unwrapped toys for the Red Stocking Fund, from 10 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Oak Bluffs Fire EMS building.
The Chappaquiddick Community Center holds an Open House and Craft Fair from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The popular Chilmark Potluck Jam resumes tonight at the Chilmark Community Center, starting at 6:30 p.m.
Edgartown Cinemas has Frozen 2 at 1 p.m. (3D), 3:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. and The Irishman at 6:15 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 1 | Teddy bears, sweet
Beach Road restaurant in Vineyard Haven hosts a Pop-Up Brunch with Cinnamon Starship from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with all proceeds to benefit Family Planning of Martha’s Vineyard.
The much-beloved Teddy Bear Suite at the Point B Realty in Edgartown opens for the season today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring the little ones, take photos and contribute to help the Martha’s Vineyard Boys and Girls Club.
In Aquinnah, the Sargent Gallery holds an Open House from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Martha’s Vineyard Film Center in Vineyard Haven hosts an Opening Reception at 1 p.m. for photographer Anna-Maria Stromberg.
At 4 p.m., the film center screens Parasite.
