April 19 – 21: Rise and Shine

April 18, 2019
Passover begins Friday night. Saturday is Earth Day. Sunday is Easter. And a large amount of rainfall is headed our way, naturally. But we are not going to let a little bad weather bother us. Tomorrow the Dairy Queen opens in Edgartown; why not start the holiday weekend with a Blizzard?

To better plan your schedule, here is a complete list of Easter services and Easter egg hunts.

And here is a list of egg hunts only (including an egg hunt + pony ride eventat Misty Meadows Equine Learning Center!).

These are the movie offerings this weekend. Highlights include multiple showings of Diane and The Wedding Guest at the MV Film Center, and plenty of excitement at the Edgartown Cinema with multiple showings of Shazam!, Missing Link, and Us, plus showings of Dumbo and Captain Marvel.

Here is a list of Good Friday services and other community events happening today.

If you’ve driven up-Island this week, perhaps you’ve noticed the stunning display (and lovely variety) of daffodils along State Road on the Polly Hill Arboretum property. And today is the annual VCS Earth Day Beach Clean-Up event, starting at 10 a.m. It’s easy to participate, because representatives from VCS will be at all of your favorite beaches with supplies for collecting trash. Afterwards, have lunch with your fellow trash collectors at the Oak Bluffs Sailing Camp.

Tonight is the annual Shellfish Extravaganzaa benefit for the Martha’s Vineyard Shellfish Group. Head to the Chilmark Community Center at 6 p.m. for local oysters and clams, chowder, and dancing to Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish.
