Live From the Vineyard: It’s Musical January!

With Christmas and New Year’s receding from view, the first month of 2019 is a time for quiet contemplation—somewhere, probably. But on the Vineyard, musicians are filling the month of January with live entertainment.

Last weekend, audiences flocked to three cabaret-style performances of Molly Conole’s Wicked Good Musical Revue at the Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse in Vineyard Haven (set list below), and more than 30 performers took part in the year’s first Pot Luck Jam at the Chilmark Community Center. (The next Revue is Feb. 8-10 and the next Jam is Feb. 16.)

This month, Oak Bluffs mainstay the Ritz hosts live entertainment six nights a week:

• Tuesdays, it’s trivia at 7 followed by Stupid Fun Karaoke with Johnny Showtime. 
• Wednesdays belong to the blues-rocking Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish, who start shaking the floor at 8 p.m. Earlier in the evening, pop-up chefs serve dinner.
• Thursdays the Edbury All-Stars—a collaborative of local headliners—start playing at 8:30, followed at 10:30 Jan. 17 and Jan. 31 by DJ Ricky Prime/AP Mashup.
• Fridays, Philly D and the Round-Up open at 7:30 with a different Island band each week at 10: The Space Invaders Jan. 11, Mike Benjamin Jan. 18 and the Brothers MacMahon Jan. 25.
• Saturdays, it’s Rosie’s Ritzy Review at 7 followed by 10 p.m. headliners: Crooked Coast Jan. 12, The Philly Project Jan. 19, The Second Hand Jan. 26.
• Sundays, the Holy Rock & Roll Revival begins at 7 p.m. Formerly known as Dirty Gospel, it’s an evening of inspirational rock, pop, soul, blues and gospel music.
• The bar is closed Mondays.
