September Striving

September Striving

September 24, 2024

This weekend marks the official end of summer — both by the calendar’s measure and by the return of Tivoli Day. But fear not, the Island has fun and festivities all year long.

The Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby continues this week with the annual kids’ derby this Sunday morning at the Oak Bluffs Steamship Authority Wharf. Get the kids up early and BYOG – bring your own gear, that is.

In Vineyard Haven, Island Music hosts its Open Mic Night on Tuesday evening, and the MV Playhouse presents an exhibit by Island artist Kanta Lipsky now through the end of October.

As the weather gets colder and the nights grow longer, consider a Thursday evening guided walking tour of Edgartown, replete with history, gossip and ghost stories.

And Salt Water Wednesdays are back next week with a demonstration on quahogs at the Edgartown Public Library courtesy of the Edgartown Shellfish Department. Come for the shucking lesson, stay for the free clams.
