Easy Street
July 6, 2023
The Vineyard vibe this week is easy and relaxed. Sure there are plenty of events you can sign up for or plan ahead to attend, but we’re thinking more about taking an hour here or there to visit an art gallery, see a museum exhibit, listen to some live music outdoors, drop into a book talk or wander a market. Maybe you explore the Island Folk Pottery Sculpture Trail, take an historic walking tour of Edgartown or an oversand discovery tour of Cape Pogue (those last two you will need to sign up for!). And definitely drop by the Tisbury Street Fair on Saturday night (July 8, starting at 6:30 p.m.).

The exhibit tells the story of Wampanoag resilience through art, culture and storytelling. The museum is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesdays through Sundays.
On Thursday, July 6, Dog Fest — an afternoon garden party at the Lambert’s Cove Inn — will raise money to support Angels Helping Animals MV. Starting at 3 p.m., photographer Mindy Dutka of Dogs I Meet will be showing her work and a silent auction will be held. Leave canine friends at home.
The father and son comedy team of Marty and Charlie Nadler is back with a new show. The Family Business will play at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center on Friday, July 7 at 7:30 p.m. Laura Michelle of Vineyard Haven appears as a special guest.
Celebrate the fruits of summer at the First Congregational Church of West Tisbury’s Berry Festival. Sales of berry treats, lemonade and raffle tickets will benefit the church. The event takes place on Saturday, July 8 from 12 to 4 p.m.
Head to Misty Meadows Equine Learning Center on Monday, July 10 for the first of its two summertime fundraising events. Cocktails and hors d’ouevres will be served while historian and filmmaker Henry Louis (Skip) Gates Jr. speaks with Tony Shalhoub about the actor’s connection with horses.
Next week marks the 100th anniversary of the Edgartown Regatta. The Edgartown Yacht Club kicks off the races on Wednesday, July 12 and they’ll take place through July 16.
You can also celebrate by learning more about the race’s history through an exhibit of photos, art and artifacts at The Carnegie Heritage Center, located at 58 North Water street in Edgartown. A Century of Sailis on view through August 5.
