The schooner Amistad will drop anchor in Vineyard Haven harbor tomorrow, Friday, June 16, signaling the beginning of the three-day Juneteenth Jubilee weekend on the Island with the theme of “Free as the Wind.” Tours of the Amistad, a replica of the historic ship that became famous after a group of enslaved Africans led a successful revolt and won their freedom in the U.S. Supreme Court in 1841, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18.
Highlights of the weekend include The Juneteenth Jubilee Cultural Festival at the Tabernacle running from 12:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, The Second Annual Taste of Juneteenth at the Portuguese American Club on Sunday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and a panel discussion with Dr. Timothy Walker, author of Sailing to Freedom: Maritime Dimensions of the Underground Railroad, at The Martha’s Vineyard Museum at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Note: The annual Taste of the Vineyard Gourmet Stroll happening tonight, Thursday, June 15, is sold out. But there are still tickets available to the Taste of the Vineyard Patrons Party and Auction on Saturday, June 17 at 5:30 p.m.
Live performances return to the Katharine Cornell Theatre this weekend. Constant Smiles, Adam Howell and Lucy Mayhew all bring contemporary music to the stage on Friday, June 16 starting at 7 p.m. The next night, Arts and Society presents the Island’s 43rd annual Bloomsday celebration starting at 8 p.m.
Make the Oak Bluffs harbor your destination for a day of fun on Saturday, June 17! The annual Harborfest will be packed with music and entertainment, food and all types of vendors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The strawberry harvest is on, and Morning Glory Farm is ready to celebrate everyone’s favorite June fruit. On Saturday, June 17, the Strawberry Celebration will feature hayrides, games, treats and, of course, strawberries from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
There’s plenty of live music to enjoy in the next few days. Here are a few highlights: Workman Song performs at The Port Hunter on Friday, June 16. There’s a PathwaysArts jazz concert at a site overlooking Lake Tashmoo on Saturday, June 17 and an afternoon of kirtan singing and chanting in a Chilmark field on Sunday, June 18. Rose Colored Glasses performs at Noman’s on Tuesday, June 20.

Courtesy of North Water Gallery, plein air artists will be painting at multiple outdoor sites throughout downtown Edgartown Wednesday, June 21 through Friday, June 23. They’ll be setting up easels as of 10 a.m. each day. The Edgartown Lighthouse is a focal point for this annual art event.
On Thursday, June 22, The Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Society will present Raising Livestock on Martha’s Vineyard, a panel featuring local farmers and agri-journalist Chloe Sorvino. This discussion takes place at the Ag Hall starting at 5:30 p.m.
