Not to skip a beat, the calendar boasts plenty more this coming weekend, though we can’t necessarily promise blue skies. And don’t forget to mark your calendars (or more importantly, buy your tickets!) for the annual Best of the Vineyard Party happening next Thursday, June 8 from 6 to 10 p.m. Find out who readers of Martha’s Vineyard Magazine have chosen as the top in dozens of categories for 2023, while enjoying drinks, snacks and music at beautiful Farm Neck Golf Club.
First Friday is back! Head to Owen Park in Vineyard Haven on Friday, June 2 for art, food trucks, live music and community. The event begins at 4 p.m. and runs through 10 p.m. PathwaysArts will present the Silent Disco starting at 9 p.m.
Lace up your sneakers or hiking boots and grab your water bottle: the Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank’s Annual Cross-Island Hike is on for Saturday, June 3. The daylong guided hike begins at Long Point Wildlife Refuge in West Tisbury at 8 a.m. Altogether, about 20 miles will be covered but you can join for segments depending on how far you’d like to walk.
Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary and Queer HubMV celebrate Pride Month with festivities this weekend. At 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 3 the Felix Neck pollinator garden comes alive during Take a Walk on the Wild Side, a nature-inspired drag show full of music and performances. Later on the celebration continues with a dance party at the Portuguese American Club in Oak Bluffs. Birds, Beers and Queers begins at 7 p.m.
The Yard dance colony in Chilmark kicks off its summer season of artist residencies and performances with an Open House Picnic on Saturday, June 3 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Bring your own picnic to enjoy on the grounds, tour the studio and theater, learn about the new season and meet the artists.
Next week is a big one for the MV Sharks, the Island’s collegiate baseball team. Welcome the players to the Vineyard at Community Night (free admission) on Monday, June 5, on Wednesday, June 7 in their first home game and then on Thursday, June 8 when they play against the Mystic Schooners. All games take place at the Shark Tank at 100 Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road.
