On the Town

March 23, 2023
The Complete Martha’s Vineyard Calendar feels robust and inviting this weekend. There are still tickets available to many films in The Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival. Art galleries are opening new exhibits and shows. Have you seen an Abundance of Color at Featherstone? Or Blooms at Louisa Gould Gallery?
On Saturday night, you can grab a seat at the MV First Responders Finest vs. Bravest annual hockey game fundraiser or you can support the Island’s nonprofit organizations with MVY Radio Night Out for Nonprofits, an annual event at the P.A. Club (more below). You could take a gardening class or a salsa class, a collage workshop or an introduction to ceramics. The opportunities continue to unfold next week, and Island Time will be back to its regularly weekly schedule beginning Thursday, April 6 — just in time for Passover and Easter.
Wicked Good Musical Revue returns to the Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse this weekend. Island musicians and singers will be performing songs from Broadway on Friday, March 24 and Saturday, March 25 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 26 at 2 p.m.
An annual favorite happens this Saturday, March 25, at the P.A. Club. MVY Radio Night Out for Nonprofits celebrates the organizations and people who care for the Island through their work at and support of nonprofit organizations. A happy hour for staff members begins at 5:30 p.m. Starting at 7 p.m., the public can join and all can enjoy music performed by Rose Guerin and Friends. Money raised from this event is donated to the MV Nonprofit Collaborative.
Martha’s Vineyard Museum offers an illustrated trip down memory lane and into deep waters with Jaws: The Movie That Changed an Island. The program, taking place on Thursday, March 30 from 5 to 6 p.m. looks at the lasting impact that the film had on the Island and its people.
One day it’s a library, the next it’s a mini golf course! The Oak Bluffs Library will transform for three events this weekend. Free Family Mini Golf at the Oak Bluffs Library happens on Saturday, March 25 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
A special Teen Time Mini Golf takes place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 24. Putts & Pints, starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 24, is a fundraiser offering dinner from Goldie’s Food Truck and 18 holes for people ages 21 and up.
The Island’s talented figure skaters will be featured on the ice during the annual show produced by Martha’s Vineyard Figure Skating Club. Cheer them on at Lights, Camera and…Skate! at the Martha’s Vineyard Ice Arena on Friday, March 31 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, April 1 at 1 p.m.
