Looking Up: Island Time, January 27
January 27, 2022
You can feel it in the air — just a hint of lightness. Twilight is still hanging around at 5 p.m., farmers are starting greenhouse crops, and the calendar is beginning to bloom again with events. Featherstone reboots its art classes this week, yoga classes are popping up, and you can take a walk with an alpaca or hunt for gnomes at Polly Hill. Anything to get outside and enjoy a little more sunshine (in between snow storms). For more ideas, remember to check The Complete Martha’s Vineyard Calendar, updated regularly. And find out where to get take-out, coffee, drinks and more by looking at What’s Open on Martha’s Vineyard.
Head to the West Tisbury Public Library for the
Covid Monologues MV Book Launch on Saturday, January 29 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. The anthology includes 70 short pieces from Island writers of all ages, spanning March 2020 to November 2021.
Read a review of the new collection here, then head to the library on Saturday to meet the writers and to purchase a copy of the book.
Verdi’s timeless tragedy,
Rigoletto, broadcasts live from the Metropolitan Opera to the big screen of the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center in Vineyard Haven on Saturday, January 29 at 12:55 p.m. The show will feature baritone Quinn Kelsey, soprano Rosa Feola and tenor Piotr Beczala.
What to cook this weekend?
