Island Time, Dec. 17-23: Let it Snow!

December 17, 2020

With Christmas Eve just a week away, there’s still time to fill out your gift list with local purchases at Island shops and pop-ups. Finished with shopping, or just need a break? Take in a movie, enjoy a filmed concert or explore the museum. Check out our tips for the days ahead, and find more in the Complete Martha’s Vineyard Calendar.

Hand-crafted jewelry by Vineyard metalsmith Ivry Russillo will be for sale this weekend at Morrice Florist in Vineyard Haven. The Ivry Belle Jewelry pop-up is on Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Buy fresh oysters directly from the people who raise them when Spearpoint Oysters holds its holiday pop-up at Larsen’s Fish Market in Menemsha, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Coronavirus hasn’t stilled the voices of the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School Minnesingers. The elite choir has recorded its holiday concert for screening at the Martha’s Vineyard Drive-In this weekend, along with the theatre department’s production of It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play.
Celebrate the life and music of singer Billie Holiday in the new documentary Billie, screening Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center in Vineyard Haven.
One of the best views on the Island is the sweeping hilltop vista from the Martha’s Vineyard Museum, where you can see Vineyard Haven Harbor, Lagoon Pond, the drawbridge and Cape Cod beyond. The grounds are decorated for the holidays now, too, with a tree of lights lit up at dusk. There’s lots to look at inside the museum as well, with exhibitions on Island history and a terrific little gift shop. Open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Advanced reservations required).
