Island Time, Nov. 27 to Dec. 2: Holiday Island

November 27, 2020

Happy Thanksgiving! Today on Martha’s Vineyard, you can take a horse-drawn carriage ride, check out holiday gift shows and retail sales and get ready for a festive weekend of outings and shopping. Find everything that’s happening this holiday season in the Complete Martha’s Vineyard Calendar.

Exploring Edgartown by horse and buggy just might be the perfect Thanksgiving activity (weather permitting) for your pod of up to six people. Drawn by a pair of Percheron draft horses, carriage tours leave the Harbor View Hotel every 45 minutes, from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Thursday and from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Friday.
In a new location this year, the Island Made Holiday Gift Show features the work of 15 Island artisans plus outdoor decorations inside a greenhouse at Heather Gardens from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Dec. 24.
There’s no group Turkey Trot in Oak Bluffs this year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do your own Turkey Trot. Run or walk 3.1 miles on your own and consider the entry fee a donation to your favorite Island charity.
It’s your last chance to shop for gifts and goodies at the final Oak Bluffs Open Market of the year, Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Washington Park.
Merry Farm Pottery in West Tisbury is open Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with contactless shopping both outdoors and in potter Micah Thanhauser’s warm, well-ventilated gallery.
