Island Time, September 17-23: Surfing Through September

September 17, 2020

Whether you’re out to catch a wave, a fish, live music or a movie — or just some rays of September sunshine — you can do it all on the Vineyard this month. Here are some best bets from the Complete Martha’s Vineyard Calendar, where you can find more options for every day of the week.

Merry Farm Pottery in West Tisbury welcomes the candy makers from the Salt Rock Chocolate Co., who will be serving samples and selling their wares from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 17. Pick up some chocolate and a mug or plate, too.
Wire sculptures and neon artworks by Island artist Steve Lohman are the stars of That’s All Folks — The Animation Show, his new exhibition at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center in Vineyard Haven, which opens with a reception Saturday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Edgartown Cinemas will be open this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with showings of Bill and Ted Face the Music, The New Mutants, and Tenet — the new thriller directed by Christoper Nolan and starring John David Washington.
The Jaywalkers, a lively Vineyard band that puts its own twist on familiar tunes, is this week’s Monday night musical guest at Featherstone Center for the Arts in Oak Bluffs. The concert is in the grove behind the Art Barn and begins at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are limited; purchase in advance.
Do you want to be a more creative thinker? Introduction to Creative Thinking is a two-hour interactive webinar with Harvard instructors Anne Manning and Susan Robertson, presented by ACE MV Wednesday, September 23, at 1 p.m. Pre-registration required.
