This summer may have started slowly, but it’s in full swing now. With more and more events migrating outside or taking place in large and airy indoor spaces, all you need is a mask to enjoy the high season for arts on Martha’s Vineyard. Even more shows, classes and conversations are taking place online — find them all in the Complete Martha’s Vineyard Calendar. Just remember to leave some time for the beach!

Two young artisans from Island families, potter Micah Thanhauser and wampum jeweler Phoenix Rogers, are teaming up for an outdoor show from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Merry Farm Pottery in West Tisbury. This is part of Merry Farm’s Pottery & Friends open studio series.
Fridays this month, from noon to 1 p.m., Godfrey Muwulya of the Yard teaches East African dance online. This Friday also brings the Oak Bluffs Library’s annual Sankofa Festival of African-American Literature & Culture, an online discussion with panelists including His Majesty King Alexandre Tatabong of Cameroon and activist Caroline Hunter. It begins at 10 a.m.
The Martha’s Vineyard Museum reopens to the public Friday with exhibits of Island history and art, and an outdoor screening after sundown of the Gay Head Lighthouse documentaryKeepers of the Light followed by a discussion with Island filmmakers Liz Witham and Ken Wentworth.
Wear your fanciest mask to acclaimed Vineyard artist Margot Datz’s annual reception and sale, Saturday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Grange Hall in West Tisbury, featuring her imaginative paintings in antique frames.This year, you can contact Datz through her Facebook page if you would like to preview paintings.
Wednesday offers a pair of online one-night stands, one literary and the other theatrical. At 4:30 p.m., the West Tisbury Library presents actor Tony Shalhoub in conversation with author Miriam Feldman about her new book He Came in With It: A Portrait of Motherhood and Madness.
At 7 p.m., the Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse reunites the cast of its 2016 production Crumbs from the Table of Joy for a virtual staged reading of the play by two-time Pulitzer-winning dramatist Lynn Nottage.
The 2020 Martha’s Vineyard Author Series continues on Sunday, August 9, at 7 p.m. with the authors of three books published this spring about the Supreme Court. Together they provide a unique window into the court’s decision-making process. Moderated by Dahlia Lithwick, the panel includes Adam Cohen (Supreme Inequality), Richard Lazarus (The Rule of Five), and Ruth Marcus (Supreme Ambition). Registration for the virtual event is required.
