Island Time, May 21-28: Memorial Day On the Rock

May 21, 2020
Everywhere you look, Martha’s Vineyard is coming to life. Birds, cats, dogs, humans — everyone wants to get outside. We’ve even spotted the first bridge jumper of the season at the “Jaws” bridge at State Beach. So while it may be a different sort of Memorial Day weekend, we’ll all celebrate the traditional kickoff to summer as best we can. The Martha’s Vineyard Complete Calendar is here to help, plus we’ve highlighted something tempting to do each day over the next week.
Remember Island restaurants are open for take-out, more farm stands are opening up this weekend, and if you need help with the cooking, we’ve got recipes, too.
Thursday, May 21 | Seeing Green
The annual Nature as Inspiration Environmental Film Festival, usually held at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center, is taking place online over the next four days. A $60 pass gets you access to six films and a collection of shorts.
Friday, May 22  | A Musical Evening

Saturday, May 23 | Dig This
Get your garden going with help from two plant sales taking place today: at the organic Grey Barn and Farm in Chilmark from 9 a.m. to noon and at the Greenhouse of Martha’s Vineyard in Oak Bluffs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Sunday, May 24 | Artisans online
