New Water Quality Management Policy Unveiled

Martha’s Vineyard – A new water quality management policy with a heavy emphasis on the Island’s high nitrogen concentrations in coastal ponds was presented by The Martha’s Vineyard Commission at its Thursday meeting.

According to the committee findings, 12 of the 15 coastal ponds and watersheds with water quality data collected by MEP and Buzzards Bay studies are in urgent need of nitrogen reduction with Lake Tashmoo, Lagoon Pond and Menemsha Pond being the most dire.
