July 16: Five Events on This Week’s Wish List

July 16, 2018

This week we’re going to get out on the water and out on the dance floor. We’re also going for a bicycle tour of Chappy and catching a performance of the Cowboy Junkies. In fact, we think these five events make for a pretty great Vineyard week, but for a full calendar of events, you can check here, too.

1 Fireside Pop-Up Dinner. Monday, July 16, 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Orange Peel Bakery.

Live music, drinks, and a four-course locally sourced meal eaten outside makes for a quintessentially perfect evening on Martha’s Vineyard. That’s why we’re heading up to Orange Peel Bakery in Aquinnah for a dinner cooked in front of our eyes in a wood-fired oven. We’re going to call right away to reserve our spot.

2 Chappaquiddick Rad Power Bicycle Tour. Tuesday, July 17, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., Chappaquiddick.

We love exploring Chappy, so what better way to do that than on an electric bike? Wheel Happy will take us on a tour to see the beautiful vistas; we’ll stop at Mytoi Gardens and the scenic overlook at Cape Pogue gut; and we’ll have a chance to check out some local spots like The Chappy Kitchen and the Chappaquiddick Woodworking Company.

3 Dancehall: Azro Cady at The Yard. Tuesday, July 17, 7 p.m., The Yard.

We’re excited to hit the dance floor tonight with Azro Cady, an NYC-based rock and roll combo that is back on the Island for another year. You can find us moving and grooving with everyone at the Patricia N. Nanon Theatre at The Yard.

Stand Up Paddle Board Qigong. Wednesday, July 18, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., MV Paddle Co.

Hop on a paddle board this evening with MV Paddle Co. and join us on the serene waters of Martha’s Vineyard. As if that isn’t relaxing enough, Allison Cameron Parry will lead Wisdom Healing meditations through the practice of Qigong. Then you’ll be ready to take on the rest of the week – we promise.

5 MV Concert Series: The Cowboy Junkies. Thursday, July 19, 8 p.m., Old Whaling Church.

Critically acclaimed musical group Cowboy Junkies sail to the Island for an evening of folk-rock tunes that chronicle the independent road the band has traveled in the musical world. We’re going to buy our tickets ASAP – this is one concert we don’t want to miss!
