Thanksgiving Feasting on Martha’s Vineyard

With November upon us, information is starting to trickle in about Martha’s Vineyard restaurants that will be serving Thanksgiving dinner. For home cooks, MV’s local farmers, bakers and chefs are busy cooking, creating and culling the best of what they have on offer to enhance the holiday feast. Check back often as we’ll be updating Thanksgiving holiday information as it becomes available.


As it does annually, the Harbor View Hotel’s Lighthouse Grill opens its doors to families wanting to celebrate with the Edgartown Lighthouse as a backdrop and an abundant buffet of Thanksgiving favorites before them. The Buffet is available from noon – 5 pm; to view the menu, click here and for reservations, call the Lighthouse Grill at 508-627-3761.

The Terrace at the Charlotte Inn will be serving a fixed price menu of $89/person from 3-6 pm in its delightful dining room. Space is extremely limited.  To learn more contact reservations at 508-627-6227.  At Lucky Hanks, choices will include roast turkey or leg of lamb accompanied by farm share veggies, an autumn inspired salad,  butter nut squash soup and of course, apple and pumpkin pies for dessert. Price is $55/pp. Dinner will be served 11 am-5 pm; reservations are being accepted at 508-939-4082.

The Black Dog will be serving a traditional holiday dinner at noon, 2 pm and 4 pm at the Tavern, on the harbor in Vineyard Haven.  Reservations are now being accepted at 508-693-9223. Pies and baked goods are available at the bakery by order and for pick-up. And, l’etoile alerts us that they are now taking reservations for Thanksgiving dinner being served 1-6:30 pm via its website, www.letoile.net

Eating at home? The Winter Farmers Market stands ready to provide meats, dairy and veggies for creative side dishes; herbs for enhancing; honey for sweetening and larder items for easily adding to the delights of your Thanksgiving table. Prior to Thanksgiving, shop these vendors every Saturday 10 am-1 pm: Beetlebung Farm, Blackwater Farm, Breezy Pines Farm, Down Island Farm, Flat Point Farm, Ghost Island Farm, The Grey Barn and Farm, Morning Glory Farm, Old Town Gardens, Pasture Prime Farm, Vineyard Herbs, Island Bee, Cinnamon Starship, The Kitchen Porch, Little Rock Farm, MV Smoke, New Lane Sundries, Pie Chicks and Enchanted Chocolates.

Kitchen Porch Catering/Back Porch Larder will be offering pasture-raised brined, or brined and roasted, organic turkeys as well as a long list of enticing sides from pumpkin bisque to smashed Yukon Gold potatoes. Orders must be placed by Sunday, November 19 at 508-645-5000. Of course, pies will also be freshly baked and available.

Over in Edgartown at Morning Glory Farm’s kitchens are busy preparing sides and pies; turkey orders await.  Check out the Farm’s menu of available items at www.morninggloryfarm.com then place orders for pies, baked goods, turkeys and more via email or by calling 508-627-9003.

We hear that Eileen Blake’s Pies is now taking orders for Thanksgiving pies and breads at 508-457-1534. Delivery dates are Monday and Tuesday, November 20 and 21.
