An A-MAZE-ING Adventure at The Farm Institute

Learn about growing your own food as you explore.

The FARM Institute Get lost in a maze of Maize at The FARM Institute's 5-acre corn maze - now though October! Open from 10am to 7pm, seven days a week, the maze will keep you lost and learning. While there is a beginner maze and a more advanced maze for the more daring, the maze is for all ages. Maps are provided upon request for different levels of difficulty and excitement. There are even a few "Bail out now!" routes for those who want to escape the maze early.  As you explore the maze, you'll have the opportunity to learn how to grow carrots, asparagus, tomatoes, garlic, nasturtiums, broccoli, corn, potatoes, and strawberries.

Just like the beach... only with more corn!
Each year, The FARM Institute has a new quest inside the maze. This year, the theme is "Grow Your Own!" As you enter the maze you are given a card with pictures of various fruits and vegetables. Throughout the maze there are "food stations" that teach you how to grow your own food. The goal is to get your card punched for each veggie station you find, learn how to grow your own produce, and then make your way out of the Corn Maze.

The FARM Institute (TFI) was founded with a vision to educate and engage children and adults in sustainable agriculture through the activities of a diverse working farm.  TFI is located at Katama Farm which consists of 162 acres of beautiful farmland next to South Beach in Edgartown on Martha’s  Vineyard.

The FARM Institute provides summer camp and year-round education programs offering learning  experiences in livestock management, gardening, nutrition and the tradition of Island farming.  These programs will give your family months of opportunities to become connected to Martha’s Vineyard in a way that will impact your lives for a lifetime.  Your children will participate in farm chores, feed the animals, tend the vegetables, all the while learning to work with others and to develop a sense of self as they take ownership of the responsibilities they are given.
